other info: a variable species, possibly with more than one variety or subspecies locally. very rare because of its specialized habitat reqiurements
not something you would expect, imagine or encounter daily.

That it grows in sand is very interesting. It is the very last place I would have looked for it:-)

Indeed, and more interstingly there seems to be more than one species of sand mushrooms in the Mediterranean alone.

Wow! I presume the mushrooms are on beach sand near the sea? So, they are tolerant of salt in the water and the air??!!!That is truly remarkable.

Yes, all of our sand-dunes are close to the sea. They must be salt tolerant indeed, to already feed on something which has died near the sea. Yes, they are truly out of this world
